Upgrades & downgrades
Switch between Prompt Reviews plans at any time to match your changing business needs. Upgrades take effect immediately, while downgrades apply at the end of your current billing period.
How upgrades work
When you upgrade to a higher plan, the change happens right away:
- Immediate access -- You get instant access to all features of your new plan, including higher limits for credits, prompt pages, contacts, team members, and GBP locations
- Prorated billing -- You are only charged the difference for the remaining time in your current billing cycle. Prompt Reviews calculates this automatically so you never overpay
- No downtime -- Your account transitions seamlessly with no interruption to your service
Upgrading your plan
- Go to Dashboard > Plan
- Review the plan comparison to choose your target plan
- Click Upgrade on the plan you want
- A proration preview will appear showing exactly what you will be charged for the remainder of your billing period
- Confirm the upgrade
- Your new plan features are available immediately
How downgrades work
Downgrades are handled differently to protect your current work:
- End-of-period switch -- Your current plan stays active until the end of your billing cycle. The downgrade takes effect when your next billing period begins
- Feature loss confirmation -- Before confirming, you will see a summary of features you will lose, such as reduced team seats, fewer prompt pages, or lower credit limits
- Data preservation -- Your existing data is not deleted, but you may lose access to features that exceed your new plan limits
Downgrading your plan
- Go to Dashboard > Plan
- Click Downgrade on the plan you want to switch to
- Review the feature loss confirmation carefully -- this shows what will change
- Confirm the downgrade
- Your current plan remains active until the end of your billing period
- The new plan activates at the start of your next billing cycle
What to check before downgrading
Before you downgrade, make sure your usage fits within the new plan limits:
- Team members -- Grower allows 1 user (owner only), Builder allows 3, Maven allows 5. If you have more team members than your target plan allows, you will need to remove members first
- Prompt pages -- Grower allows 3, Builder allows 50, Maven allows 500. Existing pages above the limit will remain but you may not be able to create new ones
- GBP locations -- Grower allows 1, Builder allows 3, Maven allows 10
- Credits -- Your monthly credit allocation will change to match the new plan
Switching billing periods
You can also switch between monthly and annual billing without changing your plan tier:
- Go to Dashboard > Plan
- Toggle between Monthly and Annual billing
- Review the pricing change (annual saves 15%)
- Confirm the switch
When switching to annual billing, you will be charged the annual rate starting from your next billing cycle. When switching to monthly, the change also takes effect at the end of your current period.
Understanding proration
Prompt Reviews uses Stripe to calculate proration automatically:
- Upgrade proration -- When you upgrade mid-cycle, Stripe credits you for the unused portion of your current plan and charges the prorated cost of the new plan for the remaining days
- Preview before you pay -- The proration preview (powered by the billing change API) shows the exact amount before you confirm, so there are no surprises
- Example -- If you upgrade from Grower ($24/mo) to Builder ($40/mo) halfway through your billing cycle, you will be credited roughly $12 for the unused Grower days and charged roughly $20 for the remaining Builder days, resulting in a net charge of about $8
Reactivation offers
If you have previously canceled your subscription, you may see a special reactivation offer when returning to the Plan page. These offers are available for a limited time and provide a discount to encourage you to resubscribe.
Frequently asked questions
Will I lose my data if I downgrade? No. Your data is preserved even if you downgrade. However, you may lose access to features or capacity that exceeds your new plan limits. For example, if you have 10 prompt pages and downgrade to Grower (which allows 3), your existing pages remain but you cannot create new ones until you are under the limit.
Can I upgrade and downgrade multiple times? Yes, there are no restrictions on how many times you can change plans. Each change is handled with proper proration so you only pay for what you use.
When does a downgrade take effect? Downgrades take effect at the start of your next billing period. You keep full access to your current plan until then.
How is the proration amount calculated? Stripe calculates proration based on the number of days remaining in your billing cycle, the cost of your current plan, and the cost of your new plan. A preview is shown before you confirm any change.

Understanding prorated billing
Prorated billing ensures you only pay for what you actually use. We calculate the exact number of days remaining in your billing period and adjust charges accordingly.
Upgrade Example
You're on Grower ($24/mo) with 15 days left in your billing period. You upgrade to Builder ($40/mo).
• Credit: $12.00 (15 days of Grower)
• Charge: $20.00 (15 days of Builder)
• You pay: $8.00 today
Downgrade Example
You're on Maven ($100/mo). You downgrade to Builder ($40/mo) with 20 days left.
• No immediate charge
• Keep Maven features for 20 days
• Pay $40 at next renewal
Important: Stripe (our payment processor) automatically calculates all prorations. You'll see the exact amount before confirming any plan change.
